Instruction & Classroom Management

Behavior Expectations

Voice Levels: Students will operate on a voice levels system. These levels span from level one to five, where one is silent work and five is an outside voice. Students will be informed of the voice levels at the beginning of the year. Voice level expectations will be posted around the room for a reminder. Directions will always be paired with the corresponding voice level.

Classroom Percentages: Students are expected to complete tasks at 100%. This means when I say, I need students to have their chrome books out, I will follow up with, "Ok, I see that 90% of my students have their chrome books out... Ok now I see 95%. I'll start when I have 100%" Abiding by the percentages is an expectation. This ensures that I have all students on board before I start instruction and that all students are on task.

Respect: Students are big on respect. Students are required to respect the instructor, their peers, themselves and administration at ALL times.

No Hand Holding Policy

My goal as an educator is to give students the tools they need to succeed. At this age, students are learning more about how they operate, their passions, and their character. I implore students to be responsible for their work and hold them at high standards. By doing this, students will leave this class fully capable of entering higher education whether that be honors/AP or college level classes. I will not hand hold students through this course, rather I will encourage them through my expectations of high effort.

Missing and Late Work

Because I value effort over achievement, I will accept late work. When a student desires to complete work, even if it is late, it shows me they are putting effort into fulfilling class expectations. However, to submit late work, students must use a late work pass. Students will receive three late work passes each semester. If the student does not use the three passes, they can turn them in at the end of the semester for five extra credit points each.

Bathroom Passes

Students are not allowed to leave for the restroom during the first fifteen and the last fifteen minutes of class. They will be given four bathroom passes a semester.
